For the first time, St Aloysius’ College in Glasgow is offering pupils from Newton Mearns and the southside transport to school, introducing a new daily bus service for the area.

Headmaster Mr Browne said of the new service: “We’re delighted to introduce this service for all of our families from Newton Mearns and the southside.

“I hope the bus will make it easier for our young people to get to school each day and make St Aloysius’ College a more convenient option for our parents.”

The head teacher also welcomed the chance to decrease pollution from cars and traffic around the school which he said is also “a huge bonus”.

Some of the school’s pupils were also given a pre-rollout free ride on the school route.

Passengers gave the new service a big thumbs-up, and later got together outside the school for a quick photo with their driver from the coach company, Doigs of Glasgow.
