BABIES celebrating their first Christmas this year are invited to join the festive fun at Glasgow city chambers.

The city council is asking mums and dads to register for the annual event – which has been running since 2005 – from today (October 29).

The first 250 infants on the list will be welcomed to city chambers on December 8 by lord provost Sadie Docherty, where they will be presented with a certificate and a keepsake to mark their first Christmas in Glasgow.

Registration is open to a total of 1,000 babies, and those not invited to the banqueting hall event will be able to attend another party at Hamleys toy store, where they will receive a goody bag on top of their certificate and memento.

The lord provost – also a councillor for the Linn ward – commented: “A particular highlight for new mums and dads is the celebration of a baby’s first Christmas.

“It’s a wonderful time of year for us all and I’m delighted to be able to offer this exclusive event, one which marks a very special occasion, for all families introducing their baby to their first Christmas”.

To register your infant, call 287 5064 or visit the council website.
