TODAY has been named Register to Vote Day and Glasgow city council is urging everyone to take five minutes to secure their vote.

George Black, the council’s chief executive and returning officer, said: “Now’s the time to make sure you can have your say in the local council election.

“Make sure you are registered to vote, especially if you have changed your name or moved house this year.

“And if you want to vote by post or proxy, rather than by going to the polling station, then this is the time to sort that out too.

“Residents can print off the relevant form from www.glasgow.gov.uk/elections or call 0141 287 4444.

“It just takes a few minutes – but you need to act now, before the deadline of April 18.

“We don’t want anyone to miss their chance to have a say in how Glasgow is run”.
