Hutchesons’ grammar and Shawlands Academy pupils have been working with the Friends of Maxwell park to create a community orchard.

The project was funded by prize money
received as a result of the Green Schools initiative.

A total of 24 trees were planted in the children’s orchard by a team of pupils from both schools’ environmental groups.

Hutchesons’ head of ethos, Jim McDougal, said: “We hope the orchard provides a haven for wildlife and enhances the park over the coming years.”
