Amanda Dundas (13) from Newton Mearns won bronze at the Portugal International Karate Contest last weekend.
The Eastbank Karate Club member won her medal for Kumite (fighting) and ranked fifth for Kata.
The contest, held just outside of Lisbon, involved more than 900 competitors from 17 countries.
The youngster had to fight off stiff competition from Portugal, France and Spain to secure the Bronze medal and was within one point of making it to the final.
Miss Dundas has been in training for this contest for a number of months and in preparation took part at a regional competition in Wishaw one week ago winning third in individual Kumite and earning gold in Team Kumite.
The Mearns Castle pupil told The Extra: “I want to thank my school and my coach Gerry Flemming - who is also the Scotland national coach - for all their support.
“My goal is to be selected for the Scotland national karate team who fly out to Malaysia in October to take part in the World Karate Federation World - Cadet/Junior World Championships”.
