In response to comments made by the traffic and transportation department, the planning department at North Lanarkshire Council requested the original proposal for 27 units be amended as it was felt this was too many.

The developers agreed to remove a block of six flats in the south west corner of the site which is located at the junction of Main Road and Airdrie Road.

The revised development had been recommended to be granted by planning officials, but at a recent meeting of the planning sub-committee it was decided to move forward with a planning hearing will take place on April 24.

A planning hearing will also take place on the same day for the Clyde Valley and Wilson development on the former Red Comyn site in Kildrum.

The Mossgiel Road application to build a development of 18 flats received 88 objections from the public including Stuart McDonald MP and Jamie Hepburn MSP.
