Pic of the Week: River Clyde at Night by Jim McCreery

editorial image

I enjoy taking photographs in Glasgow: there are plenty of opportunities both day and night, in the city and on the river.
This shot was taken for entry to a club-set topic competition entitled Night Shots. It was taken from the Millennium Bridge looking upriver through Bells Bridge and the Squinty Bridge (or Clyde Arc). Night shots are best taken with a little light still in the sky. The river has very few pleasure craft nowadays. I was interested to see this one moored close by so included it in the composition.
The photograph was taken with a Canon 350D camera with an 18-55mm zoom lens and using a tripod. Settings were F22 at 6 seconds and ISO400.
