This shot was taken on a club outing to a motocross circuit in Doune, near Stirling.
At this point on the track the riders were slowing for a tight hairpin bend and then accelerating away; this gave an opportunity to catch a trail of dirt being thrown up as they accelerated. The shot conveys a sense of motion through the blurred front tyre and dirt trail but still has the rider sharp and in focus. The difficult part is keeping the rider in focus as he comes towards you; fortunately we had good access to the track and plenty of opportunities to get a good shot.
Camera Nikon D5000, shutter speed 1/320s, aperture f4.5, ISO 200.
