One person has been injured in a collision between a First-Bus double-decker and a road grading machine on Pollokshields Road earlier today.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “Around 10am, police were called to a report of a crash between two vehicles on Pollokshaws Road at its junction with Kilmarnock Road. Emergency services are still on the scene. One person has been assessed by paramedics and has been taken to hospital to be checked over, but there are no serious injuries. Officers are still at the scene.”

A witness at the scene told The Extra: “The top few rows of bus seats have been caved in, and I’m surprised there hasn’t been more injuries from this accident.”

As a result of the incident Pollokshaws Road is closed between Kilmarnock Road (Shawlands Cross) and Ravenswood Drive/Shawhill Road while police carry out investigations.

A First Glasgow spokesperson said: “First Glasgow can confirm that one of our buses has been involved in an incident on Pollokshaws Road, Glasgow, this morning.

“We are working closely with the emergency services and have launched a full investigation to establish what happened.

“Our thoughts are with those affected.”
