GET on your bike – and more importantly, on East Renfrewshire’s new mountain bike course.
The 800 metre trail, designed by the creators of the Glasgow Commonwealth Games and Beijing Olympics courses, opens to the public on Sunday.
Beginning at Aurs Glen in Barrhead, the track promises enough twists and turns to keep experienced cyclists happy – although organisers promise that it’s not too fast or steep or young riders, families or beginners.
The opening event will include free mountain bike lessons from British under 18 champion Katy Winton, as well as trained coaches on hand throughout the day.
The drop in session runs from 11am until 4pm and parents or guardians must give written consent on the day for cyclists under 16 years.
