On the road to fundraising target

SHAWLANDS fundraiser Ian McMillan is well on his way to raising £3,000 in memory of his wife, Mags.

The Extra recently reported that Ian — a steward at The Shed — was tackling the West Highland Way and climbing Ben Nevis in succession.

The southsider trekked the famous walk in a little over three days last week, and barely stopped for a cup of tea before heading up Nevis on the fourth day — joined by 16 friends and colleagues from the nightclub.

Mags, known as the Shed mum, passed away in May after three years on kidney dialysis — but the couple had long been fundraising for the Western Infirmary’s renal unit.

Ian’s latest mammoth task has set him on the path to achieving his £3,000 target for the same cause — and his motto for the journey was “no pain, no gain”.

Next up for the Shawlands man is a charity MOM night (in Memory of Mags) at the Admiral Bar, with entertainment from friend Michelle McManus.
