START local, think global – that’s the message from green-thinking Netherlee church this week.

The East Ren church – the area’s first registered eco-congregation – has a wealth of environmental activities planned for its Green Week, running March 10-17.

Organisations using the church building have kicked off proceedings by designing their own posters for a Green Week competition.

The winner will be announced at a Green Fayre on Saturday, March 16, during which all the entries will be on display.

The fair will also feature stalls from lots of local organisations and individuals, all promoting environmental issues like energy, recycling and local food production, as well as activities for the kids.

The big event runs 10am until 4pm, with refreshments throughout – including soup at lunch time – and all are welcome to attend.
