Former Mercury Prize nominees The Unthanks have long been feted as one of the UK’s top folk bands and Mount The Air is undoubtedly their most cohesive and impressive set of songs yet.

With much of their impressive back catalogue acoustic based, the seven-strong band have gone for lush orchestration this time around - and to winning effect. Fronted by sisters Rachel and Becky Unthank, it is their gorgeous harmonising which makes this such a rewarding listen. The record starts with the epic slow-burning title track which perfectly sets the mood, with Last Lullaby and Magpie equally captivating. The fuller sound perfectly suits a quite wonderful album.
