THE first Southside Beer Festival has received backing from Glasgow south west MP Ian Davidson.
The Westminster man is urging constituents to visit the inaugural event, at Langside Hall this Saturday from noon.
Ian Davidson commented: “One of the few nice things to come out of budget 2013 was the penny reduction in beer tax.
“In parliament, I have supported the Campaign for Real Ale’s push to see some kind of support for those who enjoy a pint at the pub, and choose to support their local pubs, retaining the social aspect of a civilised drink.
“1p off is quite literally small beer, but I hope those attending the new Southside Beer Festival are able to raise a glass with a little less damage to the wallet.
“I would like to pass on my best wishes to the festival organisers and local visitors and hope they enjoy a good inaugural event.”
