A 21-year-old man was taken to hospital on Tuesday after being found near a southside railway line with burns.

The man — now in serious condition at the Victoria Infirmary — was found lying near Nursery Street, Pollokshields, at around 6.20am.

He is believed to have come into contact with overhead power lines, and British Transport Police are investigating.

Detective inspector Grant Cathcart said: “I am anxious to speak with anyone who was in this area between 4.15am and 6.20am and may have seen or heard anything suspicious to contact BTP as a matter of urgency.”

ScotRail services between the southside and Glasgow Central faced disruption as a result of the incident — all returned to normal shortly after 8.30am.
