Man attacked at bookies

A MAN was attacked as he left a bookmakers in Thornliebank.

The 25-year-old had visited William Hill bookmakers on Kennishead Road on Friday.

As he was leaving around 5pm, a man approached him and hit him with a sharp object before heading off in an unknown direction.

The victim made his way to a nearby bowling club where he raised the alarm.

Police and emergency services attended soon after and the victim was taken to the Victoria Infirmary.

He was later transferred to the Southern General hospital where his condition was said to be stable.

Detective constable John Dowds, of Pollok CID, said: “This was a horrifying attack in the middle of the day, in a very busy area of Glasgow.

“Our inquiries are ongoing, however I would like to stress that we are not treating this as a random attack.

“I would like to appeal to anyone who was on Kennishead Road at around the time of the incident.

“At the time of the attack, the area would have been very busy given that it was a Friday evening, and I am hopeful that some people may have seen a man acting suspiciously around the bookmakers prior to the incident taking place or immediately after.”
