TWO men have been charged with attempted murder and assault to severe injury after a stand-off with police in Newton Mearns last weekend.
The pair were arrested after allegedly barricading themselves in a house on Moorhill Crescent and setting fire to it.
Police attended the disturbance between 5pm and 11pm on Saturday.
Kevin Crossan (24) appeared at Paisley sheriff court on Monday, accused of attempted murder, assault to severe injury and breach of the peace.
Ryan Doyle (22) was taken to the Western infirmary for smoke inhalation treatment, and appeared at Paisley sheriff court on the same charges on Tuesday.
The men, both from Newton Mearns, made no plea or declaration and were remanded in custody to appear in court again within eight days.
The 50-year-old who lives in the house was taken to the Southern General hospital after the incident, to be treated for smoke inhalation, along with a friend who was alleged to have been seriously assaulted.
