Police believe the that peole in the car were looking to steal the girls belongings and so are treating the incident as “attempted robbery”.

Detective Inspector Stevie Watson, of Pollok CID, said: “The young girl did the right thing; she ran off, called her mum who contacted the police.

“She was not injured but it was very distressing for her and her family to experience.

“At no time did the occupants of the car try to physically get her into the car and whilst the motive has still to be established, at this time, we believe this was more of an attempted robbery - due to the items the girl had - rather than an attempted abduction, however, either way, it does not diminish the seriousness of the incident.”
