Tributes to community activist

COMMUNITY activist Ella Rae has passed away at the age of 92.

The Newton Mearns woman – a former community councillor – died early on Saturday morning.

An active campaigner throughout her life, Ella was a prominent voice on community issues, and known throughout East Renfrewshire.

Tributes to her arrived at The Extra today, including that of Newton Mearns community councillor James Sandeman, who described her “a remarkable individual”.
