Thistle do nicely

CLYDE, the mascot for next year’s Commonwealth Games, has been busy visiting schools in East Renfrewshire.

The giant thistle visited children at Thornliebank and Eaglesham primary schools to their great delight.

Clyde visited Eaglesham primary on Monday and Thornliebank primary of Thursday.

Paul O’Kane, vice convener for education and equalities, said: “This has been a great boost for our pupils.

“They thoroughly enjoyed having Clyde in the school.

“A great deal of effort goes into teaching our children about the importance of leading healthy lives and being active.

“This helped us reinforce that message in a fun way.”
