Victoria and Elizabeth Groom have brought the English-Speaking Union Juniors Debating Competition cup back to Mearns Castle High.

The duo attended the final at the Scottish Parliament, competing against Edinburgh’s Mary Erskine School, Morrison’s Academy in Crieff and the High School of Dundee — and despite a close fight, Victoria and Elizabeth clinched the top prize.

ESU Scotland’s Simon Christie commented: “We were amazed with the high level of debating skills on display from Victoria and Elizabeth, and indeed all the teams in the final.”
