Kids across East Renfrewshire can pick up a passport to sport this summer in celebration of Glasgow 2014.

The council is running a Commonwealth passport scheme encouraging children from primary one to S2 age to get active and try a range of sports.

The passport is valid until August and more they try, the higher the reward, with certificates and bronze, silver and gold medals to be given out at an awards ceremony in September.

David McLeish, senior sports development co-ordinator, said: “The passport programme is a fantastic opportunity for children and parents to find out what sports activities are available in the community, and for children to try a sport for the first time.

“Our local sports clubs have been fantastic in supporting this initiative and I would urge any club which hasn’t yet signed up to get involved to do so as soon as possible.”

He added: “This is a once in a generation opportunity to use the Commonwealth Games to inspire the children and young people of East Renfrewshire.”

To sign up, visit the East Renfrewshire council website.
