Man scarred for life in attack

A MAN has been attacked in an unprovoked incident on the southside.

The man (53) had been walking on Paisley Road West, close to Berryknowes Road in Cardonald, around 10pm on Saturday, when another male attacked him and punched him several times.

The attacker then ran off in the direction of Lammermoore Avenue.

The victim is said to have suffered serious facial injuries and he was taken to the Southern General hospital where his condition was described as stable.

The suspect is described as white, aged between 45 and 49, 5ft 7ins in height, of medium to stocky build with balding hair.

He was wearing a light-coloured top and jeans.

Detective constable Carolanne Montgomery said: “The injured man had been out with friends and had just left a nearby pub to get the bus home when he was attacked and punched several times by the suspect for what appears to be no apparent reason.

“His injuries will leave a permanent scar.

“The suspect ran off towards Lammermoore Avenue after the attack so it is quite possible that he would have been seen running at speed there or thereabouts.

“This area of Paisley Road West would have been quite busy at this time, people would have been in the pubs, shops or takeaways nearby or passing in a car, bus or taxi when this happened.

“Anyone with information can contact Pollok CID on 0141 532 5600”.
