With all the horror stories that have come out of the conflict in Iraq, it is strange, to say the least, to hear about some good news.

David Harkins met Mark White when they were pupils at Mearns primary school 22 years ago.

The boys became firm friends but drifted apart as time went on.

To the amazement of both, they met up again when both were doing army training in
Texas before being sent to Iraq in 2008.

The lads were working with a large gun, known as CRAM (counter rocket, artillery and mortar) after heading to the Middle East.
