FORMER MSP Tommy Sheridan has had to quit his position on Govanhill Baths.

The firebrand socialist had joined the community trust group as a director.

However, it was discovered that it is illegal for him to be a member while having been found guilty of dishonesty.

Mr Sheridan (48) was found guilty of perjury earlier in the year after his successful defamation court case against the News of the World in 2008.

The former convener of the Scottish Socialist Party and Solidarity had been made a director of the community-owned Govanhill Baths Community Trust at a meeting on September 5.

The baths were finally opened again earlier this year by actor and director Peter Mullen with deputy first minister and southside MSP Nicola Sturgeon.
