Crackdown on bad drivers

DRIVERS are reminded to travel more carefully as police announce another crack down.

Police announced a new campaign aimed at targeting those who put their own lives and those of others – particularly pedestrians – at risk by ignoring speed limits and driving inappropriately for the conditions and surroundings.

The crackdown is due to take place tomorrow as a day of action across Scotland and will be co-ordinated by the Association of Chief Police Officers in Scotland (ACPOS).

Chief superintendent Derek Robertson, who is the ACPOS lead on casualty reduction, said: “This day of action on speeding and inappropriate driving sees the last in the series of national ACPOS campaigns for the 2011/2012 strategy.

“Throughout these campaigns we have focussed on various aspects of road use including uninsured vehicles, using mobile phones whilst driving, seat belt use and drink/drug driving.

“I would urge all road users to obey the speed limits and drive appropriately for for the conditions and surroundings”.
