Brick through train leaves conductor injured

A TRAIN conductor escaped serious injury after he was hit by a brick on a southside train.

The missile was fired at the East Kilbride to Glasgow service as it travelled between Pollokshaws West and Crossmyloof stations.

The brick smashed through a window around 12.20 today (Monday) leaving the conductor needing treatment to a head wound.

He did not need to go to hospital.

Speaking for British Transport Police, detective constable David Merchant said: “This type of reckless and stupid act could have had even more tragic circumstances.

“I am appealing for anyone who was in the vicinity of Pollokshaws Road, Durward Avfenue or Shawmoss Road at the time of the incident and who may have seen anyone acting suspiciously to contact British Transport Police as a matter of urgency”.
