A PATIENT missing from a southside hospital since December has been found dead in the river Clyde.

John McFadden (57) discharged himself from the Victoria Infirmary on December 3 – two days after being admitted with a suspected chest infection.

Strathclyde Police have confirmed that Mr McFadden’s body was recovered near Meadowside Quay on Sunday morning, and that his relatives were aware.

A report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal, and a post mortem examination is due to take place to establish Mr McFadden’s cause of death.

A police spokeswoman added that “there does not appear to be any suspicious circumstances”.
