THE main flourish of the feastRen festival takes place this weekend, with foodie events galore planned for Rouken Glen Park.

The return of the Giffnock Bake Off takes place on Saturday, 12-4pm, and entries are welcome to the Bake Off table before a cut-off of 1pm.

Categories across adult, young person (11-17) and kids (5-10) competitions include best traditional sponge, cupcakes and biscuits, as well as the Desperate Dan savoury cow pie for adults and savoury pie or sausage roll sections for young bakers.

The judging panel include Moira Copeland from the British Sugarcraft Guide, Seumas MacInnes from Cafe Gandolfi and actress Libby McArthur.

The 6-10pm session will follow on Saturday, offering fish and game advice and a celebrity cook off, followed by session three on Sunday, 12-4pm, focused on foraging and growing your own.

Tickets are £5 (under fives go free with £12.50 family tickets) from www.feastren.co.uk.
