Ladies make it with market plans

Two female market stall traders have turned a friendship into a thriving local business.

Tania and Carolyn met over a crowded stall in a Glasgow city centre market, and the rest, as they say is history.

They recognised a shared love of the quirky and downright strange and also worked out that they wanted to try something different. With a shared love of quality crafts they soon realised that we each wanted to do something with

the existing market model.

Both ladies loved trading in markets, but sometimes felt that as traders they were not always getting to the right customers –the buying kind. Over time they decided that rather than moan about things they should ‘put their money where their mouths were’ and do something together.

Adventures in Vintage was their first event. A very succesful collectables and makers fair that attracted a crowd of over 500 people,

Since then they have gone from strength to strength, including entering into partnership with Sainsbury’s in Darnley running a hand-picked Makers Market.

The next market date for Sainsbury’s is Saturday, June 11 so why not pop along for a look at a dream come true for two ladies starting out on a new challenge in life.
