Bluebell walkers set out at Rouken Glen Park recently in aid of Canine Partners — led by a local celebrity pooch.

The charity celebrated its 25th anniversary year with more than 100 people taking part in the annual Big Bluebell Walk, this year fronted by rescue dog Kai, who was rehomed in Newton Mearns after being abandoned — with suitcase — at Ayr railway station.

Walkers turned out in their droves to meet the dog nicknamed Paddington Ayr — adding up to nearly £2,000 for the charity, which provides specially trained assistance dogs to help those in need.

Dale Gormley, Scotland regional fundraiser, said: “We are so very grateful to everyone who joined us for our Big Glasgow Bluebell Walk 2015.

“There was such a great turnout and thankfully the weather was kind! The fantastic amount raised will help us create even more amazing canine partnerships. We truly are incredibly grateful to everyone who supported the event — thank you.”
