Glasgow South candidates face off tonight (Thursday) at a hustings organised by Common Weal Glasgow South.

The event runs 7.30-9.30pm (April 16) at Langside Parish Church, giving voters the opportunity to grill potential MPs ahead of May’s general election.

Labour man and current MP Tom Harris is up against Ewan Hoyle of the Scottish Liberal Democrats, Stewart McDonald for the Scottish National Party, Brian Smith for the Scottish Trade Unionist and Socialist Coalition, Kyle Thornton for the Scottish Conservatives and Alastair Whitelaw for the Scottish Greens.

Advance questions are appreciated, and can be emailed to commonwealglasgowsouth@gmail.com.

In East Renfrewshire, candidates have been invited to a hustings meeting organised by the Eastwood Ecumenical Peace and Justice Forum.

Voters are welcome at the event on Monday (April 20), 7-9pm at St Ninian’s High School, Eastwood Park.

Topics up for discussion include poverty and injustice at home and abroad, climate change, nuclear disarmament, immigration and refugees and moral principles.
