GIFFNOCK charity Jewish Care Scotland has scooped the Queens Award for Voluntary Service.
The group – which provides social services and care tailored to the Jewish community – was presented with the highest award given to volunteer organisations across the UK by Renfrewshire’s lord lieutenant, Guy Clark.
In recognition of the achievement, provost Alastair Carmichael presented Jewish Care Scotland with a crystal vase on behalf of East Renfrewshire council.
He commented: “Jewish Care Scotland is a fantastic organisation which supports people of all ages in the community in a professional, caring and compassionate way.
“Both young and older people can all receive support, and it consistently offers a helping hand through its professional staff and its dedicated care agency volunteers.
“I have great admiration for all the volunteers who have been instrumental in working towards achieving such a prestigious award.
“It therefore gives me great pleasure in also presenting the charity with an award from East Renfrewshire council”.
