FAMILIES flocked to Barrhead Health and Care Centre during the February mid-term break to get hands-on with an interactive science exhibit.

The Body Works on Tour event had plenty of information, including a heart beating drum enabling visitors to measure their heart rate and an age machine offering a glimpse into the future.

There were real human tissue samples on display, and even a chance to try and inflate a smoker’s lungs — as well as East Ren CHCP’s smokefree community services team offering advice on kicking that particular habit.

The event was held in partnership with the Science Centre, and ERC health convener councillor Alan Lafferty said it was a “fun and informative day”.
