The philanthropic founder of East Ren Good Causes took some time out of his hectic schedule to explain to the congregation at Stamperland Parish Church the ethos behind what he does.

Russell Macmillan said: “As a Christian, it was a real honour to be asked to explain the divine intervention and inspiration that led to the birth of East Renfrewshire Good Causes ERGC, within a warm and friendly local church. “Although like many folk from the West of Scotland, I find public speaking quite daunting, however if you believe in “loving your neighbour” then you need to carry out these things, whether it is your first choice or not.

“I personally believe that we all need to pull together as a local community, especially with an ageing population and continued austerity, to raise the local standard, above the level of state provision.

“ERGC has shown the template for how press, social media, individuals, businesses, and groups can rally round the local needs, and make our area a better place to live.

“The fact I carry out this work to say thanks to God and honour the memory of the sadly deceased organ donor, whose organs live on inside me, to power the divinely inspired business plan of ERGC, is a lovely pleasure and natural fit for a Christian church along with other faiths.”
