A local southside charity whose aims is to help others in need have been out and about this week ensuring that the homeless have food and toiletries.
East Ren Good Causes, run by Russell Macmillan, supports people in East Renfrewshire via a number of different ways.
And on this occasion it was the turn of the ERGC store to load up a van with more than 70 bags of essential items and deliver it to the local homeless shelter in Clarkston.
Russell told the Extra: “Christmas celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ, and one of the main things he advocated, was to love your neighbour and the ERGC store is a small example of that, being put into practice in a modern western community like our own. I would like to thank the generosity of the members at Broom Church, who ran a reverse advent calender, resulting in over 70 bags of toiletries and groceries.
“Some of this was delivered to the shelter, and more will go to the Womens Aid, SSAFA and other similar organisations who can target those most in need of help.”
