Dementia service drop-in

DEMENTIA sufferers and their carers are invited to two information events on support in East Renfrewshire.

The drop-in sessions take place at 1 Burnfield Avenue, Giffnock, on Monday (February 25), 9am-12.30pm, and Monday, March 11, 1-4pm.

The aim is to inform residents on the support available, and gather information on how dementia services can be shaped in the future.

East Renfrewshire council’s convener for social work and health, Alan Lafferty, said: “2013 will be an important year for people with dementia and their families.

“The Scottish government is giving a commitment that all people who are diagnosed with dementia will receive a minimum of one year’s post-diagnostic support. East Renfrewshire CHCP has been providing such support for some time now, and there is an opportunity to develop these services further locally.

“We want to hear your views on how we should do this, please come along to one of the events in Giffnock.”
