Clarkston’s Business Improvement District (BID) is beginning 2017 on a high note, with plans to build on its most successful year yet.

Plans for a second annual Food and Drink Festival in late summer, – and a brand new summer event – are already underway.

The BID group has already staged its first meeting of 2017, at which the achievements of 2016 were reviewed.

Besides the first ever food festival these included the area’s first food festival and the Big Christmas Gift Hunt.

The festive season also saw the biggest ever Christmas Lights event, with no less than 11,000 people flocking to the area to enjoy the entertainment – and the shopping facilities.

A BID spokesperson said: “We assisted more businesses than ever before with over 30 businesses benefitting from our shop-front improvement scheme and event marketing grants, and almost 50 attendees at our social media workshops.”

The aim now is to build on success with similarly ambitious initiatives in 2017.
