and if it goes wrong . . .

IN the unfortunate event of an medical emergency this Christmas, NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde has launched a winter service campaign to help residents through the holidays.

The booklet Know Who To Turn To is available at health facilities and online, and provides details on using the public health service throughout the festive period.

Included are pharmacy opening hours, advice on how to access your GP outwith surgery opening hours and details of the minor injury units — one of which is operating at the New Victoria hospital between 9am and 9pm.

Dr Linda de Caestecker, NHS GGC’s director of public health, explained: “While GP and dental surgeries close for the two public holidays at Christmas and again at new year, many other health services remain open.

“This guide lets you know what to do if someone becomes unwell and can’t wait for the GP surgery to re-open on December 28 or on January 4.

“I’d encourage everybody to make sure to get their copy and keep it handy”.

For those who haven’t managed to pick up the brochure (available in pharmacies, doctors surgeries and hospitals), an online version is available at www.nhsggc.org.uk/knowwhototurnto.
