The southside remained cloaked in smoke yesterday (Wednesday) following a fire at a warehouse in Polmadie.
Some 50 firefighters dealt with the blaze on Monday night.
Part of the M74 was closed due to thick smoke, and the haze has continued to hang over the southside — but a fire service advisor has confirmed that there is no danger of asbestos, despite initial concerns.
The Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) has declared the site safe, although Scottish Fire and Rescue Service stated that firefighters were still at the scene yesterday.
The statement added: “The plume of smoke visible over the area surrounding the incident has not dispersed quickly due to prevailing weather conditions.
“The public are advised that the smoke is likely to remain visible for some time.”
