“The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well” said Ralph Waldo Emerson.

Such a statement could equally be applied to East Ren’s Good Causes charity who pride themselves on helping others less fortunate.

And they’re at it again!

From January 16 the ERGC store will be distributing the toiletries which were collected as part of last year’s annual Christmas appeal.

The value of the gift package is approximately £30, and will include; bars of soap, shampoo, shower gel, hand wash, toilet rolls, deodorant, toothbrush and toothpaste.

The ERGoodCauses store aims to “Love our Neighbours” in East Renfrewshire, and particularly by targeting help at those who are trying to help themselves or others around them.

By providing a £30+ gift of store cupboard essentials and toiletries to a low income household, this can allow existing money to be diverted to buy a pair of school shoes or clothing.

Trained frontline professionals working in the East Ren community, identify those most in need and approach the store to access a “gift bundle” for their client.

Founder Russell Macmillan told The Extra: “I would like to thank the many groups and individuals who donated an incredible amount of toiletries for us to distribute over the coming year”
