A national charity for people of the Jewish faith in Scotland have been busy once more organising excursions for its members.
Seventy people enjoyed Jewish Care Scotland’s annual outing to Bonnyton Golf Club on Thursday, September 22.
The organisation is the only social care charity dedicated to the needs of the Jewish community in Scotland.
They work in partnership with East Renfrewshire Council and in liaison with local authorities and other agencies throughout Scotland.
Thistle club members, along with a number of dedicated volunteers and staff, spent an afternoon at Bonnyton Golf Club.
The room was decorated with fresh flowers in autumnal colours that had been arranged during a flower demonstration with the Aviv club members the day before.
Kosher Kitchens catered the event and club members were treated to a lunch of poached salmon and cocktail chopped fried gefilte fish which was followed by a particularly tasty apple pie.
After lunch club members enjoyed live musical entertainment and lots of the volunteers and staff enjoyed an impromptu dance.
The outing was favoured with extremely good weather on the day so some of the club members ventured onto the green and got out the golf clubs!
Club members were then treated to tea, coffee and home baking, as well as several games of bingo. Jewish Care Scotland’s Chief Executive, Kevin Simpson, stepped up to the job as the caller.
“The Bonnyton Golf Club trip is something our club members look forward to every year and this year was no different, we had lots of people eager to come along. It was really great to see the club members away from our Day Centre having fun and socialising with their friends.
We were extremely grateful to Bonnyton Golf Club for hosting us for another year; their staff were very helpful and welcoming. The Jewish Care Scotland volunteers also went above and beyond to make the day feel extra special for all of the club members.” said Ronnie McColl, Day Centre Deputy Team Leader.
A spokesperson for Bonnyton Golf Club said: “We were delighted to host the annual day trip and lunch for this group of very special people, who all had a great time while with us.”
