A RESIDENTIAL home, Netherlee House, has benefited from the tireless work of two local organisations.

East Renfrewshire Good Causes put up £411 in cash, matched by Eastwood Rotary, to purchase a portable hoist for the home – a residential house which is run by McFarlane Homes.

Netherlee House is a supported living, residential house which cares for 10 adults with learning difficulties, Down Syndrome and associated physical disabilities within the community.

The idea of purchasing the electronic hoist was floated by a council social worker.

The machine is easily transportable which will allow residents to have a holiday or respite break.

Russell Macmillan, founder of ERGoodCauses, told The Extra: “This is another excellent example of The Extra readers, social workers, Rotary and ERGC – among others – coming together to help our neighbours”.

ERGC will further benefit from Eastwood Rotary Club next month, as it has been chosen as the charity recipient for next month’s AM AM golf tournament.

The event takes place at Whitecraigs golf club on June 6, and anyone interested in taking part can contact member Ronnie Munn, or visit Eastwood Rotary Club
