Giffnock cadets were out in force last month selling poppies in time for Remembrance Day services.

Hoping to beat its 2013 total of £2.64 million, Poppy Scotland enlisted the Giffnock Detachment of the Army Cadet Force for The Avenue Shopping Centre and Clarkston Main Street, where the youngsters helped to swell the coffers.

A representative of the West Lowland Battalion Army Cadet Force congratulated the team on their efforts, and told The Extra: “It is heartwarming to see a group of youths doing a good deed in their community.”
