Fundraising family smash relay target

A FUNDRAISING family and friends team stepped up to the plate recently after months of charity events leading up to the Cancer Research UK Relay for Life.

The East Kilbride event involves teams walking for 24 hours collectively, each tackling a portion of the relay race.

The Robb family, with members from Busby and further afield, are annual participants, and this year boosted their fundraising appeal by hosting events in East Ren, including a table top sale and quiz night.

And, when it came time to race, everyone was out in force — including youngest member Ewan Wylie, who at just three days old accompanied an auntie for his share of the laps.

The family’s hard work has paid off, with a £4,000 total to add to the £37,500 and counting that the East Kilbride event has raised for Cancer Research.

Speaking on behalf of the rest of the Robb Family and Friends team, Sheila McDougall told The Extra: “This couldn’t have happened without the support of many people who helped with the fundraising throughout the last few months, and the team extends a big thank you to all supporters.”
