Pupils at Mearns primary have been having a busy time of it, recently.

The youngsters have made a major donation to charity by giving Malawi schools a large amount of tables and chairs.

The school recently received new tables and chairs and, not wishing to see the old ones go to waste, offered them to pupils in the African country.

So, now 30 tables and 300 chairs will be winging their way to Malawi.

And some of the youngest of the primary school’s pupils have been involved in a project which included building an igloo.

After asking fellow pupils to bring in plastic milk jugs, the kids were inundated with donations and quickly had enough to create their wintry dwelling.

Parent joined in the fun by helping to build the igloo which has been used to help teach the children about life in cold climates.

The school’s choir also made their mark by achieving success at the Glasgow Music Festival when they came joint third in the primary section and joint second in the hymn singing aspect.
