First Christmas to remember

Proud mums and dads of Glaswegian babies celebrating their first Christmas this year are invited to put their child forward for the council’s annual baby’s first Christmas event.

Babies who live in the city and will be celebrating their first Christmas this year can be registered between November 1 and 21.

The lord provost of Glasgow, Bob Winter, will personally welcome the first 250 infants registered, to the banqueting hall at the city chambers on Saturday, December 10.

There, they will be presented with a certificate, a Hamley’s teddy bear and a silver coloured Christmas tree decoration as a keepsake to mark their first Christmas.

The lord provost said: “A particular highlight for new mums and dads is the celebration of a baby’s first Christmas. It’s a wonderful time of year for us all and I’m delighted to be able to once again offer this unique event.

“Now in its sixth year Baby’s First Christmas has become an extremely popular festivity with more than 1500 babies welcomed to the city chambers and I hope it will remain so for years to come”. Registration can be done either by calling 0141 287 5064 or completing a form online at www.glasgow.gov.uk/parks
