DRIVERS with electric cars will benefit from new charging points across the city.

Sustainable Glasgow has installed Plugged in Places at Wilson Street, Bothwell Street, Scotstoun and Bellahouston leisure centres, Tollcross pool and the Emirates Arena, thanks to a £215,000 grant from Transport Scotland and electricity paid for by Glasgow city council.

Further sites will be installed with the equipment shortly, including the Riverside Museum, Hydro Arena car park and on Cowglen Road, Pollok, near Silverburn, with parking made free for those charging their cars in the designated green bays.

There are already 34 charging points in the city’s multi-storey car parks including Collegelands, Cadogen Square, Cambridge Street, Charing Cross and Concert Square.
