Plans for a £1.75m transformation of Thornliebank have taken another major step forward.

The ‘Transforming Thornliebank’ project, developed by East Renfrewshire Council and East Renfrewshire Culture and Leisure Trust (ERCLT), aims to convert Thorntree Hall into a community hub, providing a wide range of public services within a high quality public space.

A £1.2 million funding application to the Scottish Government’s Regeneration Fund has now progressed to the second stage.

Convener for infrastructure and sustainable growth, Councillor Tony Buchanan, said: “In East Renfrewshire we are working hard to make sure our town centres are thriving and vibrant. We want them to be places where people want to come to shop, work and socialise.”

The council’s second stage application will be considered on 30 January 2017.
