CHILDREN and staff at Shawlands primary are the first to sign up for the Glasgow Youth Games.

The southside pupils put their names to this year’s event yesterday, at a launch held in Glasgow Airport, in a bid to encourage children and teachers across the city to enrol.

Scotland’s largest youth games, the event invites all children in primaries five to seven and S1 and S2 to take part, and over 3,000 youngsters are expected to register for the 13 sports available.

The games will take place at Scotstoun Stadium and Kelvin Hall on May 18 and 25, and registrations are welcome until May 4 on 287 4030 or by e-mailing youthgames@glasgowlife.org.uk.
